Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, in Mvezo, Transkei, South Africa. Becoming actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement in his 20s, Mandela joined the African National Congress in 1942. Nelson Mandela became South Africa’s first black president in 1994. Nelson Mandela was a rebel turned peacemaker. Mandela was a rebel, because he rebelled against apartheid in South Africa and wanted equality for the Africans in South Africa. As a leader Mandela, was willing to use violence. ( Apartheid means rigid former policy of segregating and economically and politically oppressing the nonwhite population. )

He rebelled against apartheid in South Africa, because Africans didn’t have any freedom and that did not sit right with Mandela. Mandela tried to use his words, but it didn’t work. Part of the speech he gave was “ We have waited too long for our freedom. We can no longer wait. Now is the time to intensify the struggle on all fronts. To relax our efforts now would be a mistake which generations to come will not be able to forgive.” Even though he was against violence, he was willing to use it. His wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, was not against violence. The people of South Africa started to listen to Mandela when things started to get worse out there.

What Would I Rebel Against ...

If I was to rebel against something or someone, I would rebel against society. I would rebel against society because, it’s so messed up and people need to start making a change. Why would you want to live in a world, where everything around you is messed up, that nobody is not trying to fix. The American society is so screw up. The American people don't know the difference between right and wrong or between good and bad. I think we live in a sin sick society.  There are so many problems, from corruption to obesity. We can't solve our problems, not to mention trying to aid others in other countries. Most of the people in this world doesn't honestly care whats going on around us. Their mostly focus on whats happening on Facebook or Twitter, than whats happening in the world today.

The methods that I would use is my voice. I'll try to get the people to understand and to change by using my words. If using my words doesn't work, I'll start using action. Action speaks louder than words. I wouldn't use weapons. I'll start a march like, MLK and Mandela did.The American people should join me to make the world a better place, for everyone and future generation. Hopefully, they'll listen and make the world a better place.
